Akhilesh Yadav spent Rs. 45 Lakhs public money on 30 lakh leaflets to make SP reach every 29th literate eligible voter, Every 8th SP Voter just to popularize 3 years of SP rule in UP !

Is Akhilesh Yadav led Samajwaadi Party government of Uttar Pradesh is gearing up for election 2017 stealthily?

The question comes to my mind because in reply to one of my RTI queries, Dr. Vishwanath Tripathi, Deputy Director & Public Information officer of Department of Information & public Relations, vide his letter dated 23-06-15 has informed me that Akhilesh Government spent a whopping Rs. 45 Lakh from state exchequer to get 30 lakh leaflets containing 3 years’ achievements of SP Rule printed.

As per census 2011, UP has a population of 199,812,341 and as per data of election 2012, there were 127,492,836 voters in the state. Keeping in view the literacy rate of 67.68%, the literate voters in the state comes out to be 86,287,151. This statistics shows that Akhilesh Yadav has made it sure that every 29th eligible literate voter should get this leaflet containing details of his governments’ 3 years achievements.

In election 2012,SP increased its vote share to its highest 29.15 per cent of total votes polled, up from 25.43 per cent, helping it to  raise the party tally from 97 previous time to a record 224. Total votes polled in election 2012 were 75,831,682 of which SP got 22,104,935. This statistics shows that every 8th SP voter got this leaflet containing details of UP governments’ 3 years achievements to pass it on to others.

With total area of 240928 Sq. Kms., the data shows Akilesh distributed 12.5 leaflets per Sq. Kms all across UP.

I perceive this as a gearing up strategy of ruling Samajwadi Party Government to gear up for election 2017 publicize itself in whole of  UP at the cost of taxpayers hard earned money meant for development work.

This act of Akhilesh led SP Government is highly condemnable. Governments should focus on implement its schemes and refrain from such large scale publicity ventures at the cost of state’s coffers. I feel if government’s schemes are implemented in their true spirits, there won’t be any need of such ‘leaflet printing and distribution’ projects.

Are other political parties listening the sound of foot-steps of upcoming election 2017?
