Twitter trolls had a field
day after UP CM said he had downloaded a recent B-wood flick before
declaring it taxfree. The CMO later revealed it wasn't an illegal
download
When UP CM Akhilesh Yadav
decided to make a controversial Bollywood film tax-free in the state,
he would have been prepared for what the saffron groups, who have been
campaigning actively against the film, would have to say to theAkhilesh's statement in a TOI report from January 1, 2014 sparked a
debate on piracy move. What he must not have been prepared for was the
hue and cry over him downloading a new release, which snowballed into a
debate on piracy and illegal downloads online.
THE CONTROVERSY
Tweeple spent a good part of Thursday evening and Friday morning taking
on Akhilesh Yadav's candid confession, to point out that piracy was
illegal, and to ridicule the CM. Even the film fraternity chipped in
to deride Akhilesh: “....It's a federal crime 2 download a
film.I&B ministry shd take actn, (sic),“ filmmak er Ashoke Pandit
posted on Twitter.
If sources are to be believed Akhilesh Yadav has a hard disk of 160 GB full of downloaded Sunny Deol videos -Ra_Bies @Ra_Bies
Akhilesh Yadav downloaded (film) to watch it, doesn't matter whether you become CM, an Engineer will remain an Engineer.

THE CLARIFICATION...
The CM Office got back with a clarification saying that the CM wasn't downloading a pirated version of the film. Instead, he had authorised downloading facility.
...AND THE CURIOSITY
But the clarification led to more curiosity: what exactly is this legal download facility about, and why don't all of us have access to it?! An official from UFO Moviez, on condition of anonymity , told us, “We have a facility called UFO Club X for private movie screenings. You have to have a personal theatre with the UFO satellite and software installed. People like Sachin Tendulkar and Shahrukh Khan also make use of this facility .The CM Office also has the equipment installed and last week, we received a request from them for a single viewing of the film in question.“
