Modi Govt. accused of softening stand on corruption as centre denies permission to prosecute UP cadre tainted IAS Sada Kant Shukla.

Lucknow based firebrand activist’s persistent efforts have resulted in centre denial of permission to prosecute UP cadre tainted IAS Sada Kant Shukla. Er.Sanjay Sharma, a city based activist was compelled to shoot numerous letters and RTIs right from CBI to MHA,DOPT,PMO & President’s Secretariat to make Central Govt. decide proposal for sanction for prosecution against Sada Kant in Crime number RC-11(A)/2010,ACB,Dehradun in which
sanction for prosecution was solicited/proposed on 09/11/2012.

Briefing about the case Er. Sharma said “It was in year 2011 when Central Home Ministry prematurely repatriated Sada Kant, a 1983 batch IAS officer who was sought by CBI in corruption case, to his parent cadre in Uttar Pradesh.Kant, who was serving the MHA as a Joint Secretary (Border Management), was sent back before completion of his five year Central deputation.The Home Ministry had discreetly sent him back home . Sada Kant was on Central deputation since 2007 and was supposed to complete the term in 2012.A case was registered against him under the Prevention of Corruption Act and CBI was allowed to question him. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) gave sanction to the CBI for interrogating the joint secretary while sending him back to his parent cadre.The CBI had accused Kant of ignoring rules while awarding contract of border management roads in Leh-Ladakh on India-China border to a private company and also for making confidential information public. Not only this, relatives of Sada Kant enjoyed air travels and other facilities at the cost of contractor from a private firm.Crime number RC-11(A)/2010,ACB,Dehradun was registered against Sada kant in which
sanction for prosecution was solicited/proposed on 09/11/2012. It was pending since then.”



DOPT has in a recent RTI revealed that the competent authority in PMO has denied sanction for prosecution against Sada Kant in Crime number RC-11(A)/2010,ACB,Dehradun in which
sanction for prosecution was solicited/proposed on 09/11/2012. Citing exemption clause 8(1)(h) of RTI act 2005, DOPT has denied impart of copies of letters,note-sheets and other documents related to this matter.


Dissatisfied with Modi Govt.’s decision, Activist Sanjay has accused Modi Govt. of softening its stand on corruption. “I am all set to take this matter to High Court” told sanjay.
